S&P 500 4300 +124.
The stock market jumped after Mr Powell comments, taking the opportunity to breath some fresh air after the very weak month of April. Nevertheless, the market is not out of the woods as we are only at the beginning of a tightening cycle in the context of an inflation that is out of control. We observed heavy buying as measured by our buying/selling index, meaning either fresh money entered the market or short covering. Breadth closed on a strong note: 3484 stocks advanced compared to 879 that settled down. Daily and weekly sentiment indicators continue to be positive.
