A quiet summer trading day in Wall Street, the stock market challenged the previous day’s highs as market participants continue to try to understand the Fed’s monetary policy. Breadth closed slightly negative: 1748 stocks advanced whereas 2355 settled down. Buying and selling activity closed square as measured by our buying/selling index. Options activity was neutral to cautious. We observed an improvement in the sentiment measures of private investors as the bull to bear ratio came almost at the neutral level.
