S&P 500 4’524,09 +1,41.

A very quiet trading day in Wall Street. The stock market can’t find any fresh impetus from the monetary policy or corporate earnings during this end of summer period. Breadth is ok: 2’580 stocks advanced compared to 1’526 that settled down. Options trading is fairly neutral with no excess speculation in sight. The cumulative advance/decline line on the NYSE is rebounding, a recomforting sign whereas on the Nasdaq there is still room for improvement. The list of stocks hitting fresh new highs is also expanding.
