The stock market closed almost unchanged at the end of a quiet summer trading day. There are always interesting things happening behind the surface: we observed fairly heavy selling pressure on the NYSE as measured by our buying/selling index and a solid closing Tick at + 662, an apparent contradiction. Otherwise, breadth settled almost even. Technically, it is possible that the stock market is tracing an ascending triangle since mid-June, it has to be watched closely over the next few trading days.
